DIVERSEartLA Talks is an online platform where museums and institutions share their programs and projects with the public ahead of the 2021 DIVERSEartLA edition. This year, the curatorial focus highlights women and non-binary artists, as well as research at the intersection of Art, Science, and Technology.
In the DIVERSEartLA Talk, the speakers discussed LUMINEX: Dialogue of Lights, highlighting the role of public art in creating shared experiences and fostering community engagement, especially coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. They emphasized how public art transforms spaces, sparks conversation, and makes art accessible to a wider audience. The conversation also focused on Luciana Abait’s artwork Agua, exploring how her piece reflects the fluidity of water and the interplay of light and movement, embodying the dialogue between environment, perception, and public interaction.
Hosted by Kassandra Voyagis, Producer/Director of the LA Art Show, and curated by Marisa Caichiolo, DIVERSEartLA Curator, the monthly virtual talks feature guest speakers Carmen Zella (Founder, NOW Art), Rachel Whitaker (Senior Project Manager, NOW Art), and artist Luciana Abait.
