Liquid Shard is a groundbreaking public art installation by Los Angeles artist Patrick Shearn, commissioned through a collaboration between NOW Art and Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department. Curated by Carmen Zella, the project evolved from a smaller work first shown outside the LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Installed in Downtown Los Angeles for two weeks in the summer of 2016, the shimmering kinetic sculpture captivated Angelenos with its fluid, reflective form. The project also served as an educational opportunity for architecture students working with Shearn’s studio, Poetic Kinetics. Widely shared around the world, Liquid Shard became an iconic public artwork that helped launch Shearn’s international career.
